Woman behind every man’s success: IG

Kurnool: Rayalaseema Range IG S Mohammed Iqbal said that a woman is behind every successful man. Speaking about the body builder, Sudheer, who has brought laurels to Kurnool after participating in International Body Building championships, he said that his wife’s encouragement was behind his achievements.

Instead of investing money on unnecessary things, the IG gave a call to spend money on girls’ education. Iqbal said that women were not a burden as they bring illumination in the society. “Encourage them with education and they in turn, would educate the society,” the IG exhorted.

He reiterated these words after participating as a chief guest at the International Women’s Day celebrations organised at STBC College premises here on Thursday. He said the women have the capabilities to compete equally with men in all sectors if given freedom and provided with equal opportunities.

Women should pursue education and scale great heights, besides being a role model to others, said Kurnool City MLA, SV Mohan Reddy. The State government is giving more opportunities to women. Speaking about his position and achievements as an MLA, he said his wife was there at every step of his life.

District Collector S Satyanarayana said that there was a need to prevent child marriages and the Police department was striving to provide security to women. In her speech, District Judge Anupama Chakravarathy said it was her good fortune and by God’s grace that she took birth as a woman. As a mother, a woman should mould her children as good citizens of the society.

If the children are not paid due attention, then there are chances of becoming criminals, she stated and lamented that several crimes are being committed against women. District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty said that women were excelling in all fields while competing with men. He recalled the services rendered by women in the development of the society.

Prior to the meeting at STBC College, a 2-km walkathon was organised with large number of women and students. It was flagged off from the Collectorate and culminated at the STBC College. Marking the International Women’s Day celebrations, the district administration has organised cultural programmes at Sunaina Auditorium.  

The authorities felicitated women employees, representatives of non-governmental organisations and girl students. A blood donation camp was also held at the Collectorate.

ASPs Shaik Sha Vali and I Venkatesh, OSD Ravi Prakash, Assistant Commandant Basha, Municipal Corporation Commissioner CB Harinath Reddy, Women and Child Welfare Department Project Director Jubeda Begum, DPO Parvathi, DEO Tahera Sultana and others were present.
