BJP core committee meeting today

Vijayawada: The core committee of BJP Andhra Pradesh unit will meet here on Sunday. Seventeen members of the core committee including BJP AP unit president K Hari Babu, MP Gokaraju Ganga Raju, MLAs Kamineni Srinivas, AkulaSatyanaryana, P Manikyala Rao and P Vishnukumar Raju, MLCs, senior leaders Purandeswari, KavuriSambasiva Rao, KannaLakshminarayana and party secretaries will participate in the meeting.

Highlights:

• To take stock after differences cropped up with TDP 
• The saffron party leaders to focus on strengthening the party in the State 
•  Hope that the Centre will fulfill assurances of Vizag Rly Zone and Kadapa Steel Plant

BJP national joint secretary Satish will also attend the meeting representing national leadership. The meeting will decide the strategy for strengthening the BJP in AP and to overcome ongoing crisis after the differences from TDP. The meeting will finalise schedule for party state executive committee meeting to be held later.

Chiefly, the BJP wants to emerge as a strong Opposition to Telugu Desam in the State, say party sources. However, now the meeting of the core committee has assumed significance due to the ongoing political developments. The leaderships of TDP and BJP withdrew their members from the Centre and the State Cabinets.

 The TDP announced its stand to continue in the NDA; but the BJP leadership does not believe it. Already the BJP national leadership has informed to state party leadership to get ready to face any kind of situation including TDP’s exit from the NDA.   

In this backdrop, the core committee of the BJP state unit has decided to discuss the future course of action. 

The BJP state unit has started highlighting the issues of Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra to counter the Telugu Desam campaign over non-cooperation from the Centre for the state development and poor fund allocation. 

The national leadership has given signals to local leadership to continue to highlight the regional issues when the Centre has plans to clear railway zone for Visakhapatnam and steel factory in Kadapa in the near future. The core committee will discuss all the issues and likely to take decision to interact with people highlighting the Centre’s future sops.

BJP State general secretary Jammula Shyam Kishore speaking to The Hans India, said that the party core committee would decide future plans. The party leadership has initially prepared to meet people, he said and ruled out the plan of alliance with YSR Congress.
