Girls education vital in community development: ZP chief
Nellore: ZP Chairman Bommireddy Raghavendra Reddy said that girl education plays an important role in society development and appreciated the efforts of Coromandel Group that has been supporting girl students from rural areas to reduce dropout rate.
Coromandel Group distributed merit scholarships to more than 100 students who are studying Class IX in ZP schools across the district.

Participating in merit scholarships distribution programme, he said CSR funds have to be utilised properly for community development.
He also said the ZP has also been encouraging students who excel in academic activities achieving good percentage in examinations and giving awards.
Stating that empowerment of women was the main thrust now for enhancing percentage of educated people, he lauded Coromandel Group for extending support to students of rural areas who are studying in government schools, which significantly reduces the dropout percentage.
Raghavendra Reddy said he had asked the district collector to focus on proper usage of CSR funds being provided by various corporate organisations that allocate 2 per cent from their earnings per annum for the cause of social development.
He appealed to the corporate firms to utilise the funds aiming at community development in an effective way.
He said he had proposed to upgrade secondary schools as institutions where intermediate education is available in rural areas. He hoped if the government gives green signal, they are ready to start classes from the next academic year.
He said standards of these government schools are now on par with corporate schools that have been charging thousands of rupees from poor people.Coromandel company distributed Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,500 cash awards to selected 104 children from 52 schools across the district supporting their educational activity.
Company General Manager Y V Krishna Reddy, Assistant General Manager Sambasiva Rao, divisional officer Sai Prasad, Senior Agronomist Rama Rao and Marketing Executive Linga Reddy were present.
