Nellore: District Congress Committee (DCC) president Dr P Krishnaiah demanded that the State government allocate additional funds for the ongoing irrigation projects in the district.
Slams government for not allocating adequate funds for the ongoing projects, Nellore and Sangam barrages and modernisation of Somasila works
Interacting with media at Indira Bhavan here on Saturday, Krishnaiah criticised the state government for not allocating adequate funds for the ongoing projects and termed the state budget as a ‘magic with figures.’
Stating that the state government had not allocated sufficient funds, he said that Nellore and Sangam barrages and modernisation of Somasila works have been taken up during the Congress regime. “Government has to allocate additional funds for these projects keeping in view of difficulties of farmers in the district. There is a need to speed up the works,” he said.
He came down heavily on the government for failing to allocate sufficient funds for loan waiver and for backward classes welfare.
The DCC chief also questioned that how the government would show surplus budget for 2018-19 when it was witnessing deficit budget during 2014-15 and 2017-18.
He said that Congress is the only party, which had identified the significance of SCS to the state.
“Congress party had launched its agitation three years ago and mounting pressure on the Central government for achieving the SCS to the state,” said the DCC chief.
He explained that they had organised ‘Andhrula Atmagowrava’ Deekshalu across the state and also in Delhi to achieve SCS to AP. He appealed to students, youth and other organisations to come forward to achieve SCC status to the state.
