More women entrepreneurs need of hour: MLA Upuletti
Vijayawada: Pamarru MLA Upuletti Kalpana said the Central government adopted liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation since 1991 to provide accelerated growth to the economy of the country.
She was addressing a gathering here on Friday at a workshop on ‘Women Entrepreneurship and Boardroom Diversity’ organised by Institute of Directors (IOD) with the support of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation.
She said that some strata of society were socially, educationally and financially excluded. The development has remained elusive to certain classes of society such as women. Therefore, it needed to provide them with an opportunity to venture into commercial enterprises, she said.
IOD, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regional director Latha Reddy said that the key to economic growth and development was women entrepreneurship and boardroom diversity development. It had played a very important role in achieving the goals of development in self-employment in specific and industrial development as a whole.
Inspector of Police K Vasavi, Sakku Group of Companies director M Madhavi Latha, Andhra Bank manager D Nirmala Jyothi, SBI regional manager T Vasantha Lakshmi, Software Technology Parks of India Joint Director V Jinubala and many entrepreneurs participated in the workshop.
