Pulse polio drive in West Godavari District on March 11
Eluru: West Godavari District Medical and Health Officer B Subrahmanyeswari said that arrangements have been completed to conduct pulse polio programme in West Godavari district on March 11.
Addressing the media at her office here on Friday, she said that they decided to administer polio to the children in the age group of 0-5 years in the district. Polio vaccines would be sent to all areas in the district and arrangements were made for the pulse polio drive.
She said that after successful completion of the vaccination on March 11, the volunteers, ANMs and para medical staff would conduct a household survey to administer vaccine to the leftover children, she added.
It was estimated that about 4.01 lakh children are in the district in the age group of 0-5 years. In all, 3,192 vaccination centres were set up in the district and 2,251 centres in rural areas. Over 395 centres would be opened in urban areas, she said.
About 464 centres in tribal areas and 82 centres in sensitive areas would be established. In all, 12,768 booth team members would supervise 319 supervisors, 13,285 personnel. Immunisation officer Dr Mohan Krishna, District Malaria Officer M Mohan Rao participated in the media conference.
