Police beat up Narayana students
Kurnool: Police whipped lathis on the hostel students of Narayana Junior College located on the outskirts of Kurnool and nearer to Nanoor village on Saturday night. In the incident, some of the students were said to have received injuries that were given treatment at local hospitals. After the incident, the management was said to have warned the students not to reveal the incident or else they have to face the consequences thereafter.
According to the available sources, the hostel students were on rampage breaking the hostel furniture for not serving with quality food. Vexed with negligent attitude of the college management, the students damaged furniture on Saturday night. The management called the police. Without making any preliminary inquiries, police resorted to lathi-charge on the students.
The students rang up to their parents and informed about the torture. The perplexed parents had come to the college and picked up argument with the management and with the police. The parents found fault with the police for whipping the students without knowing the reasons.
One of the students speaking to media, said that they were being served with insipid food despite several complaints. When we demand for savoury food the management is scolding with filthy language. ``The management is only interested in our money and is least concerned about the diet. Though huge amount is paid, we are not served with tasty food,’’ he said.
Another student also alleged, ``if we suffer any health problems due to spoilt food, the management won’t heed to our words. They ask us to attend classes and will not provide medical treatment. The Dean and the ADA were informed about our problems but none cared to initiate action. Several times, we go to bed without food.’’
The parents finding fault with the police alleged that it is not the way to deal with the students. They should first hear the student’s version and inform to the parents. The parents sought action against the college management.
