12 girl students fall sick after consuming stale food
Vijayawada: About 12 girl students, who fell sick after consuming stale food, were admitted to the Government General Hospital (GGH) here on Monday.
According to the information given by Student Federation India (SFI) leaders, about 12 students staying in the accommodation at the SRR and CVR Government college premises consumed residual food brought from outside on Sunday night and the same was served in the morning. After consuming the food, the students complained about vomiting sensation and motions.
In spite of administering medicines for the ailment, there was no improvement in the condition. Subsequently, 12 students became unconscious and were admitted to the GGH. District Collector B Lakshmikantham, GGH Superintendent and other officials visited the hospital and inquired about the health condition of the students.
The Kanchikacharla Social Welfare Integrated College is being run on the premises of the SRR and CVR Government College for the last five years since the building construction was not completed at Kanchikacharla. The 120 students have been staying on the college premises which includes college hostel.
The Collector said that land would be allocated for the construction of Kanchikacherla Social Welfare Girls Hostel buildings. The construction of the hostel building will be completed, and the girls will be shifted to the hostels soon.
