Action sought on 22 defected YSRCP MLAs
Hyderabad: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition has been filed in the High Court at Hyderabad seeking disqualification of 22 MLAs of Andhra Pradesh who had won their seats on YSRCP ticket and then defected to TDP. It will be heard on Tuesday.
Former MLA from Markapur constituency in Prakasham district Anna Venkata Rambabu filed this petition contending that some of the defectors have also been made ministers in the state Cabinet, which is illegal.
He charged that the Speaker of the Assembly has not taken any action on the complaints lodged against the defectors seeking disqualification for years together.
The petitioner pointed out in his petition that the Supreme Court had clearly directed that there must be early disposal of such complaints about defections.
Apart from the 22 MLAs, the petitioner has made Principal Secretary of AP Law and Legislative Department and Secretary of AP Assembly as respondents.
