Ganja worth Rs 5 cr destroyed

Visakhapatnam: The district police destroyed 7,637 kgs ganja, Rs 5 crore worth under Kothakota police station limits with judicial permission in the presence of Drug Disposal Committee members at Kalyanakapu hills near Ravikamatham area on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media, DIG of Visakhapatnam Range Ch Srikanth said that the police registered ganja cases under Kothakota police limits in which Kothakota (17), Rolugunta (30) and Makavarapalem (18).

He said that Visakhapatnam district police destroyed 11,493 kgs of ganja with court permission at Marikavalasa last month. Visakha Rural Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma, ASP (Narsipatnam) K Arif Hafeez, SC/ST Cell DSP CH Vivekananda and other police personnel were present.
