Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam performed
Tirumala: The traditional temple cleansing ritual "Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam" was performed with religious fervour in Tirumala temple on Tuesday. A special aromatic mixture "Parimalam" is applied to walls, roof of entire sanctum sanctorum, other small-temples after they were cleansed with water jet.
While the entire process was underway, the presiding deity was covered with a white veil. It took over three hours for cleansing of temple and puja utensils. Later, the veil on Mula Virat was removed and special puja was performed.
As the Vilambi Ugadi is just five days, traditional temple cleansing fete "Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam" is performed at the sub-temples of TTD including Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple and Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple. The temple staffs took part in this cleansing ritual. Later the devotees were allowed for darshan.
