Robots can’t replace human resources

Visakhapatnam: As long as artificial intelligence has not evolved to a point of developing machines which can interact, engage, think, adapt, and respond exactly in a fashion as a human can, it is not possible for such intelligent machines to completely replace the human resource, expressed engineering students at HR Meet organised by GITAM University here on Tuesday during GUSAC Carnival-2018 (GITAM University Science Activity Centre).

As part of national fest, the organisers convened a HR meet in which panel discussions were held on ‘gender diversity’ and robots. While discussing on peeping into future topic former deputy manager, Hindustan Shipyard Limited DSN Murthy said that there is an urgent need to regularise robots usage in the industry and he pointed out that robots are not going to replace the human resource and occupy all of the tasks which are currently being performed by the human beings.

HSBC Talent and Acquisition Manager Vishnu Lalchand expressed that workload in the future will be handled much more efficiently and precisely with the utilisation of an interaction between the human and robot.  

Some students pointed out that robots fail to provide the flexibility and creativity to find a solution during highly complicated tasks which is a major limitation to the application of artificial intelligence. The participants observed that the young people would have no jobs or less jobs due to increasing automation.

GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao inaugurated the carnival in the presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivarama Krishna, NRDC IPR Cell Deputy Manager Bijay Kumar Sahu, GITAM Registrar Prof M Potharaju, GITAM Institute of Technology Principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad, Student Affairs Director Prof K Veerabhadram.

The organisers arranged 150 technical innovations during the carnival. The two carnivals are mainly focusing on techno farming, blockchain technology, e-Vehicle designing, literary festival, film festival, a star-night and cultural nights.
