Confiscated arms crushed by road roller

Kurnool: G Srinivas, DIG of Kurnool Range, said on Wednesday that 1,575 unused arms and ammunition were crushed under a road roller at District Police Training Centre here.

Addressed a press conference, the DIG said that around 1,587 fire arms have been confiscated since 1976 to 2009. In which, 12 arms have been kept for exhibition as per the opinion of committee members and the rest were crushed with the consent of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty and Revenue Division Officer (RDO) Hussain Saheb.

Several weapons were damaged and developed rust in the floods, the DIG stated. ASP I Venkatesh, OSD Ravi Prakash, MRO Venkat Ramesh, DSPs Ramesh Reddy and Iliyaz Basha and other police officials were present.
