Cops take out rally on helmet usage

Nellore: City traffic cops organised bike rally here on Thursday to create awareness among the public, particularly two-wheeler riders, on wearing helmets. Nellore City DSP N BM Murali Krishna flagged off the rally at V R College grounds. Speaking on the occasion, Murali Krishna said that helmet usage is necessary for motorcyclists to save their lives from road mishaps.

Murali Krishna also urged the motorcyclists to wear the helmets and avoid using mobile phones while riding. IV-Town Circle Inspector Sudhakar Reddy and other police personnel participated in the rally. Meanwhile, SP PHD Ramakrishna stated in a press release that they would file cases against the motorcyclists and imposes fine, who violates traffic rules, from March 26.

District SP appealed to the motorcyclists and the pillion riders to wear helmets either in Nellore city or in other municipal areas in the district. DSPs, Circle Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors have organised awareness campaigns on importance of wearing helmet in their jurisdictions, the SP said.
