Naidu for complete breakup
Amaravati: After exiting from the central government, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appears to have decided to come out of the NDA and fire on all cylinders in his attack on the BJP for not delivering Special Category Status (SCS).
The indication came from Naidu himself when he said in the Assembly that he was in favour of the TDP moving or supporting if any one moves a no-confidence motion against NDA to register people’s protest for denial of SCS. As Friday is likely to be the last day of the budget session of Parliament, no confidence-motion caper of either the YSRC or the TDP might not be of any use since there is no way the issue could come up for discussion.
Nonetheless, the YSRC gave a notice for moving a no-trust motion against the BJP-led NDA government. Party's MP Y V Subba Reddy gave the notice in the office of the Lok Sabha secretariat for its inclusion in Friday’s list of business. The notice for motion can be accepted only if it has the support of at least 50 members in the House.
YSR Congress has nine MPs in the Lok Sabha and if others too back it, then it would be admitted. YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has written to presidents of all parties to back the notice to facilitate the chair to assign a date for taking up the no-trust motion. Even if the motion is taken up, no harm would be befall on the NDA as it has brute majority in Lok Sabha.
Naidu’s announcement that the TDP would back the notice for no-trust motion in Lok Sabha is obviously intended to prevent any impression gaining ground that the TDP was in two minds on its commitment to SCS. For this, apart from backing the notice, Chandrababu Naidu is understood to be scripting a strategy to take the sting out of Pawan Kalyan’s campaign against him to prevent any erosion in his support base.
Naidu is understood to have been upset with Pawan Kalyan making personal allegations against him and his son N Lokesh and describing the Telugu Desam as one that has been steeped in corruption. In a teleconference with his party leaders, he termed Jana Sena chief’s allegations as baseless and said they were part of a grand conspiracy to discredit the Telugu Desam Party.
Naidu, without naming the BJP, said some important leaders stage-managed a drama using the YSRC against the Telugu Desam. Now they have begun another act in the drama, with their first one having failed. These Tamil Nadu type-dramas would not work in AP and that the people were intelligent enough to understand the game-plan, Naidu said.
Taking the cue, the TDP leaders began slamming Pawan Kalyan while Naidu wanted to know who would benefit if Telugu Desam is weakened. “It is unfortunate that Pawan Kalyan has played into the hands of those who want to strike a blow on the TDP.
He wanted to know why Pawan Kalyan remained silent for four years and now has begun an attack on the TDP. In his address, Pawan Kalyan did not talk much about YSRC. He should have questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi but he did not, he said adding: “A dirty political game is played out now.”
