Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday reviewed the health conditions and the preventive and curative measures initiated by the Medical and Health Department and Urban Development in Guntur city, where several cases of diarrhoea have been
reported.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P Narayana and Civil Supplies Minister P Pulla Rao explained the latest status in Guntur to the Chief Minister. Then the Chief Minister directed them to submit detailed report within 24 hours. Chandrababu Naidu was serious over the officials who failed to address the issue as soon as it came to light.

He also chided them over the delay in providing ex gratia to the kin of the victims. He asked the officials to clean all the drainages in the municipalities and corporations in the entire State. He directed them to replace the damaged drinking water pipelines across the urban localities in the State.

Damaged roads, removing pipelines and not controlling the leakages in pipelines and not filling the pits were some of the reasons for stagnation of drainage water, Chandrababu Naidu observed. All these problems must be addressed, he added. Collectors of all districts and urban department officials participated.
