16 injured in road accidents
Eluru: Sixteen people, including three Class X students were injured in two separate road accidents, in West Godavari district on Tuesday. According to police, an auto that was taking seven students from Class X examination centres overturned between Kovvurupadu-Sagipadu villages in Gopalapuram mandal this afternoon.
Of which three students were seriously injured and the other four received minor injuries. All these students were returning after writing the examination when the accident took place, police said.
The three seriously injured students were shifted to Gopalapuram Primary Health Centre. One Student Jakku Vinayakudu (15) of Sagipadu village was shifted to the Rajahmundry Government Hospital as his condition was deteriorated.
Meanwhile, in another accident on the National Highway at Satyanarayanapuram in Denduluru mandal, nine persons were injured when the vehicle they were travelling hit the divider.
Police said that about 19 members of a family boarded a van at Visakhapatnam to have a darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara at Tirupati on Monday night. When the van reached Satyanarayanapuram area around 3 am on Tuesday, the driver lost control and hit the divider and it overturned.
In this incident, nine people received serious injuries. The highway patrolling immediately reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Eluru Government Hospital. Denduluru police registered a case. All of them are from Chintala Agraharam in Pendurti mandal of Visakhapatnam district.
