Chilli seeds worth 63 lakh seized

Guntur: Agriculture department officials raided a transport company office on Etukuru road here on Monday and seized 210 kg chilli seeds being transported without proper documents. 

They seized chilli seeds in four bags. Their market value is  Rs 63 lakh.  The seeds were sent from Koppal in Karnataka to Sun Seeds in Guntur city. The sender mentioned that they are sending vegetable seeds.  

Agriculture department official Anajaneyulu, who seized the stock, said that the sender had sent the seed bags without bills and invoice to Guntur Sun Seeds. “When we contacted Sun Seeds, they replied that the stock was not related to them. We will register a case  and issue notice to the sender,’’ he said.
