Diarrhoea deaths rise to 15 in Guntur city
Guntur: Shaikh Ismail,52,a resident of Alinagar,has been suffering from diarrhea for the last four days and died in the GGH here on Monday, thus, taking the toll to 15.
Meanwhile,another 40 patients were admitted in the GGH and in the fever hospital in Guntur city for the treatment of diarrhea during the last 24-hours.Another 120 patients are undergoing treatment in GGH and other medical camps. The doctors in the GGH are shifting those patients whose condition is serious to the corporate hospitals for better treatment.
Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana said that diarrhea cases were gradually falling in Guntur city and the situation was under control.He inspected the drinking water pipelines shifting works from drains at Anandapeta in Guntur city on Monday.
Speaking on this occasion,he said that the government would take steps to change all the pipelines meant for supplying drinking water from drains in all municipalities to prevent water borne diseases.
He said that the government has taken steps to replace old drinking water pipelines in Anandapetaover a stretch of 100 meters and would complete the pipeline laying works as early as possible. He further said that they have taken steps to clean the underground drains and near the side drains.
