Jagan promises houses to the homeless
Guntur: YSRCP president and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Y S Jaganmohan Reddy assured that he will sanction houses to the homeless and they will be registered in the names of housewives if the YSRCP is voted to power in the next elections.
Addressing a meeting at Pedanandipadu in Guntur district on the 115th day of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, he assured that he would hike old-age pension to Rs 2000 per month and reduce age for sanctioning the pension.
Jagan assured that he would take steps to see that banks release crop loans to farmers. He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu’s government is not paying interest on crop loans to the banks and as a result the banks were charging commercial rates for crop loans.
He said due to the failure of the government, the farmers were not getting a better price for their agricultural produce. Jagan alleged that during the next Assembly elections, Chandrababu Naidu will provide Rs 5000 for each vote.
He suggested to the voters to take money from Naidu and vote as they like. He sought cooperation of people to change politics. He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu mortgaged the Special Category Status (SCS) to Centre to secure political mileage.
He flayed the TDP for providing ‘corrupt’ rule during the last four years. He alleged that Chandrababu Naidu government also failed to fulfil its promises of waiving crop loans of farmers and loans sanctioned to the self-help groups. Jagan also criticised the State government for its failure to extend Guntur channel despite repeated pleas by farmers.
He pointed out that the extension of the channel would help in providing irrigation facility to another 30,000 acres. Earlier, the YSRCP chief participated in a human chain (Manavaharam) protest organised by the Guntur district party activists at Kommamuru demanding that the Centre should sanction SCS to the State.
