Chandrababu Naidu for double digit growth in farm sector
Visakhapatnam: Collector and Chairman of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Pravin Kumar directed the agricultural officers to prepare action plans to achieve double digit growth in the agriculture and its allied sectors. He also directed the officials to chalk out plans linking the MGNRGS works to increase the productivity in agriculture.
The ATMA governing body meeting was held here on Tuesday. Presiding over the meeting, Pravin Kumar said that the state government and particularly Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu monitoring the agriculture and other related sectors growth engines to increase the productivity.
As per the Chief Minister’s directions, the officials should make the action plans to achieve the double-digit growth in the agriculture sector, he added. In order to ensure Rs 10,000 per month to each farmer, the plans should be prepared by coordinating with the departments, including agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, horticulture, and sericulture.
The officials should submit their action plans within four days and orders would be given in a week’s time after screening the plans, Pravin Kumar added. While explaining about the ATMA activities, Project Director Appalaswamy said that during the 2017-18 fiscal Rs 2.81 crore worth action plan was approved, including Rs 1.27 crore worth of proposals for the welfare of the farmers.
However, the government sanctioned Rs 56 lakh worth proposals of them Rs 45 lakh worth of programmes were taken up so far. For 2018-19, Rs 1.45 crore worth proposals were sent to the government, he added.
