Cops suspect role of Tamil Nadu killers in murder case

Tirupati: Three unidentified persons killed an elderly woman, Vijayalakshmi (59), by slitting her throat at Konka street in the temple city on Monday night. According to Urban police, one miscreant from the gang has knocked the door of deceased Vijayalakshmi’s house at 8.30 pm and enquired about the ‘To Let’ board.

Later, two more persons entered the house forcibly and stabbed her with knives and slit her throat. She fell on the ground and died after few minutes. They took away her two gold bangles but did not rob gold ornaments and cash from the almirah. Prior to the murder, the cops said that the deceased had called her husband and informed about unknown persons seeking details about the rented portion.

After some time, her husband Jaya Kumar came to the house and was shocked to see his wife in pool of blood. Immediately, he lodged a complaint with Tirupati West police station. The cops swung into action and identified the killers from the CCTV footage recording seized from the opposite house. The police said the accused carried out recce in the morning and evening prior to committing heinous crime.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty said five special teams were formed to nab the accused in the murder case. He stated that cops took the case as a challenge and got hold of clues from the scene of offence. “We are suspecting that killers belong to Tamil Nadu and cops already left to neighbouring state to track the accused,” the SP stated.
