Nizam’s silver coins found at Kothapalle

Kurnool: Ancient coins believed to be of Nizam’s era were detected from a land at Kothapalle village in Atmakur mandal on Wednesday. On receiving information, Atmakur CI Bhandari Shankar with his staff rushed to the spot where the coins were found and recovered 17 silver coins.

The cops called the Tahsildar of Atmakur and under his supervision a panchanama was done.  Tahsildar JK Mohan said that the recovered silver coins are believed to be of Nizam’s period and they would be handed over to the District Collector for safe custody.

As per the available information, one Narayana Rao of Annavaram Camp village in Nalgonda district of Telangana State has purchased 22 acres of land in survey No.123/E from Konda Reddy, a resident of Kothapalle village. Narayana Rao had engaged workers to till his land.

While tilling the land, the labourers have found silver coins. However, the news spread like wildfire in the village and people in huge number rushed to the land and got busy in searching for the coins.
