BJP won’t accord Special Category Status to state, says Tulasi Reddy
Kadapa: Pradesh Congress Committee Vice-President N Tulasi Reddy has said that it is impossible to secure Special Category Status (SCS) for AP until BJP lead NDA government continued power in the Centre.
Speaking to media persons at Vempalle on Friday, Tulasi Reddy said from the beginning when BJP came to power after 2014 elections, it has been showing discrimination either providing SCS or allocating funds to the Andhra Pradesh.
He said that though TDP, YSR Congress parties were well aware of this fact, they failed to highlight the issue with the central government due to their vested and political interests.
He recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had committed blunder in accepting the special package, instead of bringing pressure on the Centre for SCS.
He said that in recent Congress party plenary meeting, it adopted political resolution for providing SCS to the AP immediately after it comes to power at the Centre in 2019 elections.
Regional parties like TDP, YSR Congress cannot implement the assurances made in the AP Re organisation Act. It will only be possible for national party like Congress, he added. Several party leaders were present.
