One killed, 6 injured as private bus hits auto

Kurnool: In a ghastly road accident that occurred in the early hours of Friday at Pedda Tekur village, one person died on the spot and six others suffered grievous injuries. 

All the injured were rushed to Kurnool General Hospital for treatment.  The deceased has been identified as K Ranga Reddy (43), an auto-rickshaw driver who belonged to Ulindakonda village.

According to the available information, driver Ranga Reddy was carrying passengers in his vehicle towards Kurnool from Ulindakonda. When the auto reached Pedda Tekur village, he stopped as a passenger boarded the vehicle. Meanwhile, a Volvo bus belonging to a private travels and going in the same direction hit the auto from the rear end at a high speed.

Ranga Reddy died on the spot in the mishap while Maddileti (53), Mallikarjuna (40) and Gopal Reddy (40) of Yaparlapadu village, Bharathamma (55) and Golla Maddaiah (40) of Ulindakonda and Rasool Bee (60) of Doddipadu sustained injuries. The locals immediately shifted them to Kurnool General Hospital for treatment.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetti on learning about the incident rushed to the hospital and visited the injured. He also urged the doctors to extend better treatment to them. 

Later, speaking to the media, he pointed out that several accidents took place at the spot and suggested some precautionary measures that should be taken to prevent mishaps. The Ulindakonda police shifted the dead body to Kurnool General Hospital for autopsy and later handed it over to the relatives. A case was registered against the private travels owner besides detaining the bus, the SP said.
