Woman lecturer commits suicide

Srikakulam: A woman lecturer committed suicide at Sompeta town on Thursday night and it came to light on Friday morning. According Sompeta CI, N Sanyasi Naidu, the deceased woman was identified as S Geetha, 27 of Bobbili in Vizianagaram district.

She hanged herself in a room at her house during night. She was working as contract lecturer in Sompeta Government Junior College.  She was married to S Nukaraju of Terlam in Vizianagaram district six year ago and he is working in AP Gramina Vikas Bank at Borivanka in Kaviti mandal.

They have a son and a daughter and are residing in a rented house at Rajapanthula Colony in Sompeta. The relatives of the woman have said that both the wife and husband used to quarrel frequently over family matters and she had been harassed for additional dowry.

On information, family members of the Geetha rushed to the spot. Police collected details over the death. Family members of deceased Geetha alleged that she committed suicide due to harassment by her in-laws for additional dowry. We have registered case against husband of the deceased as death of his wife occurred within seven years of her marriage CI explained.
