4 youth held for extorting money from woman
Nellore : Central Crime Station (CCS) Police arrested four persons for extorting money from a woman pretending themselves as Police personnel. CCS Police seized Rs.3 lakh and a car from the accused and they are identified as Gundala Vamsikrishna Reddy, M Harshavardhan, Ch Govardhan and G.Mahendra Reddy.
According to the CCS DSP M Balasundar Rao, G Vamsikrishna Reddy, along with three others extorted money from the woman on March 17 to help in a case saying they were from the Police department. ‘They had taken Rs.3 lakh cash from the woman and fled away.
After receiving complaint from the victim, IV-Town Police along with CCS Police launched an investigation,’ said the DSP M.Balasundar Rao. The CCS Police nabbed the accused on Friday at PVR Kalyana mandapam in city, he said.
DSP said that G.Vamsikrishna from Eeduru village in TP Gudur mandal in the district had involved in several crimes in AP and Telangana states. Vamsikrishna was also one of the accused in a rape case filed in Banjara hills Police Station in Hyderabad city. He also involved in cheating cases in Naidupeta; IV-Town, III Town Police station in Nellore city limits and also in TP Gudur, said the CCS DSP.
Another accused, M Harshavardhan also involved in cheating cases in Telangana state. The DSP said that cases were filed against Ch.Govardhan in Muthukur and also in Nellore rural police stations. ‘G.Mahendra Reddy from Kissan Nagar in Nellore had also one of the accused in a rape case filed against him in Banjara hills Police station,’ said the DSP.
Police held the accused, he added. CCS DSP recommended for rewards to the police personnel who excelled in CCS Circle Inspector Sk.Bobbyjan Saida, IV Town Circle Inspector V.Sudhakar Reddy and others were present.
