Civic chief stages dharna for tax clearance

Vizianagaram:  The district municipal administration is striving to collect the pending dues of property taxes from the people. 
Though they are repeatedly sending the notices, the owners are not responding. So, the vexed officials have launched innovative steps to express their protest in front of the offices and shops to collect the property tax. 

As a part of protest, on Saturday, P Kanaka Mahalakshmi, Municipal Commissioner, along with the staff, staged a dharna in front of the office of General Manager, BSNL, which has to pay Rs.1.78 crore to the municipality.  The BSNL has not been paying the property tax for the past few years. Later, the Commissioner said that they have no other option than staging the dharna to collect the property tax.
