Complaints galore at ZP meet

Visakhapatnam: The ZPTCs and MPPs raised the problems of their respective villages during the Zilla Parishad general body meeting here on Saturday. The local body representatives expressed their dissent over delay in payments of various works and attending to the people’s problems, including defunct bore-wells, scarcity of drinking water, repairs of roads, waiving of farm loans, unavailable of pesticides and urea et al.

However, the officials failed to answer to the points raised by the ZPTCs and MPPs. Though the officials of various departments explained about various works and their progress, majority of the members were not satisfied with their response.

Presiding over the meeting, Chairperson of Zilla Parishad L Bhavani asked the officials to explain about the works, status and expecting time to complete the works. As the financial year ending, she asked the officials to present the fact sheet on the works. In view of summer, the Chairperson asked the officials about the action plan to ensure drinking water supply to all the village in the district. She informed the members that Rs 112 crore funds were released for various drinking water works across the district. 

She directed the officials to prepare an action plan to ensure each borewell functions properly. While responding to the issues raised by the members, the officials informed that they would attend to all the issues and action taken report would be sent to the MPPs and ZPTCs concerned after completing the works.

Collector Pravin Kumar informed the members that due to closing of financial year, there is a delay in payments. However, all the payments of various works would be cleared in the first week of April. Speaking about the waiving of farm loans, the Collector assured the members that he would convene a meeting with the officials of the departments to clear the pending loans.

Taking a serious note on the delay in executing the works, some of the members have given written complaints to the Collector. In turn, he assured them that all the issues would be addressed soon.
