Need of spirituality for modern India stressed

Tirupati: District Collector PS Pradyumna has inaugurated the World Spiritual Festival formally at Tarakarama Stadium in Sri Venkateswara University here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he underlined the importance of developing Tirupati as a spiritual capital.

That was the reason Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to organise this festival in this city. He observed that if everyone adds spirituality to their daily chores then they will attain completeness.

Spirituality should become the basis for building the modern India. Especially, youth should involve more and strive for spiritually for the development of society. “Nowadays, we were treating western culture as our culture and spirituality which should be changed.

Our own culture and spirituality should be propagated in the society and that was the motive behind conducting the three-day festival,” the Collector maintained. 

Earlier in the day, yoga and meditation camp began at Shilparamam, which will continue for the next two days. Later, a workshop was held at Mahati Auditorium on science and technology, ancient Indian astronomy, work & home life balance, and role of women in building the society. 

Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) Vice-Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sharma, Former V-C of Dravidian University Prof PV Arunachalam, International teacher Vamsi, Prof B Aruna, T Arunakumari and others delivered lectures. In the evening, noted scholars Samudrala Lakshmanaiah and Voddiparthi Padmakar delivered religious discourses which were well received by the audience. 

They were followed by Annamayya Keerthana Kacheri by TTD Asthana Vidwan Garimella Balakrishna Prasad, who took everyone into a separate world. Soumya and group have performed a classical dance. Meanwhile, the inaugural programme was not attended by any of the Ministers listed out in the invitation card. 

Finally, it was graced by TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav and SVU V-C Prof A Damodaram and others and as expected the world festival was confined almost to local talent. Joint Collector Girisha, In-charge Sub Collector Kanaka Narasareddy, Executive Director of APTDC Jayaprakash, District Tourism Officer Chandramouli Reddy and APTDC Divisional Manager Suresh Kumar Reddy took part.
