Rs 63 crore allocated for GPs development
Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar said that Rs 63 crore were allocated in second phase by 14th Finance Commission for the development of Grama Panchayats in West Godavari district.
He presided over a review meeting with extension officers of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (EOPRDs) on tax collection, dumping yards construction in Grama Panchayats at the Collectorate here on Saturday.
Addressing a meeting, the Collector said that out of the total amount allocated, 50 per cent should be allotted specially for the laying of cement roads in rural areas and this will enable the administration to complete the CC roads construction in all villages in the district.
Remaining works would be taken up during the next financial year, he added. The Collector directed the officials to concentrate on sanitation in villages. He expressed unhappiness over the tardy progress of dumping yard sheds construction in 909 Grama Panchayats.
He said about 169 sheds construction was going on slowly and warned that action would be initiated against the officer concerned if he fails to complete the works by next meeting. He suggested to the officials to utilise 10 per cent funds of the Finance Commission to Green Ambassador programmes.
The Collector said that as per the new orders by the State government, new CFMS system would be implemented in the district from April 1. The salaries would be paid as per the biometric attendance that synchronised to CFMS system. In view of this, the employees should follow the bio-metric attendance, and they should attend duties in time.
He clarified that the panchayats meetings should be conducted in panchayat offices only and the sarpanches and officials should follow this rule strictly. District panchayat officer Mullapudi Venkataramana, divisional panchayat officers K Chinna Rao and Ammaji were present.
