Priority to cut down APSRTC losses, says new MD
Vijayawada: N V Surendra Babu, IPS, who assumed charge as the Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) here on Monday, said he would strive to reduce the losses with an objective of reaching the break-even point. “We have a very good team and will try to improve the financial condition of RTC,” he added.
He took the charge from outgoing Managing Director M Malakondaiah at his chamber at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station complex. Speaking on the occasion, Surendra Babu said 55,000 staff working in the APSRTC would be treated as his family members. Asked about his style of functioning, he replied that he wanted to study the issues in the RTC first.
“Let me know about the RTC through my officials,” he added. He said it was the second time that he had taken charge from M Malakondaiah. He recalled that he took charge from Malakondaiah as the SP of Medak in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and had many fond memories. Earlier, DGP M Malakondaiah said that the RTC has landed in the safe hands of an efficient and competent officer. He hoped that the RTC would reach a better position under the supervision of Surendra Babu.
