Row over Class X girl rewriting examination

Eluru: The educational department officials allowed a student of a corporate school to write Class X examination after the stipulated time in a school at Palacol town in West Godavari district. The incident came to light on Wednesday, as the videos and photos went viral on the social media.

According to information,  Class X Social Studies paper-1 was conducted from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm at BRMB Municipal High School on Tuesday. The students submitted their answer sheets to the invigilators in the stipulated time and left the centre.  It is learnt that a girl student of a corporate school marked the multiple-choice with a pencil. However, as the time was over, invigilator has taken the answer sheets from her.

With this, the girl student informed this to the corporate school management. In turn,  a teacher from the school made call to Mandal Educational Officer Rangarajan in this regard. The MEO reached BRMB High School immediately and opened the answer sheets bundle with Head Master of the school. Later, he gave the multiple-choice paper to the girl student to mark it with a pen.  The incident took place at 1.10 pm on Tuesday and the student completed the paper at the Head Master’s room.

Meanwhile, District Educational Officer CV Renuka responding to the media questions on Wednesday, she  said that the girl student already answered the multiple-choice paper with a pencil. When the invigilator took the answer sheets after the stipulated time, she started crying, she added. On humanitarian grounds, she directed the MEO to allow the student to complete the the paper.

On the other hand, the DEO issued a press note stating a fact-finding committee was established to probe into the incident that took place at BRMB Municipal High School in Palacol. She stated that three official committees would look into the matter. Bhimavaram Deputy DEO, Tadepalligudem Deputy DEO, Gopannapalem Government High School Head Master appointed as members of the team and the committee would submit a report within a week, she added.
