Task Force seizes adulterated commodities

 Visakhapatnam: On a tip-off, commodities are being adulterated at Girijanagar near Burma Camp area, the Task Force and GVMC food safety officials raided the house and seized 800 kgs of commodities, which were packed in half kg and 250 grams packets, which were ready for transport to the outlets, which were located on the outskirts of the city. The commodities are being packed in the name of Sri Vigneswara Traders.

During the raid on Wednesday, the Task Force and Food and Safety officials seized nearly 800 kgs of ground nut oil, coconut oil, raagi flour, rice flour, upma ravva and maida  packets.

According to GVMC Food Safety Inspector Koteswar Rao, the owner of Sri Vigneswara Traders was identified as Bobbili Prasad, a native of Sabbavaram village and residing at Girijanagar near Burma Camp in the city, along with his parents since two years. Prasad had purchased all the commodities from Poorna Market with a food licence and GST number from the wholesalers and dumped in his house. 

The task force officials received information stating that Prasad was adulterating the essential commodities and selling them at small outlets on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam. The officials collected samples of commodities and sent them for labs to find whether those products were adulterated or not.
