HC convicts Narsaraopet civic chief

Guntur: The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh sentenced Narasaraopet Municipal Commissioner N Bhanu Pratap and Town Planning Officer Sambaiah to two months of imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 50,000 each. It issued orders to this effect on Thursday. The court vented its ire on the municipal officials for violating norms.

According to sources, the municipal officials violated the norms in demolishing a building one-and-half-years ago without issuing a notice to the house owner N  Lakshminarayana. 

The victim approached the High Court for justice.  After completion of the hearing, the court imposed the punishment.  The High Court directed the municipal department to take departmental action against them.

Later, addressing the media, MLA G Srinivasa Reddy warned that if the government employees violate rules, they have to face the wrath of the High Court. He urged the employees to work as per the norms without violating rules.
