Rally to mark Mahavir Jayanti
Vijayawada: Children, men, women and senior citizens flooded the streets of One Town to participate in a rally taken out here on Thursday to mark Mahavir Jayanti. In all, 5,000 people took part in the rally which was flagged off by One Town CI Kasi Viswanatham.
The rally was started from Gandhiji High School at One Town and proceeded through the Convent Street, Tarapet, PJN Road, Eagle Statue Centre, BRP Road, Janda Chettu Centre, Subbaramaiah Street, SKPVV Hindu High School, Samarangam Chowk, Park Road and culminated in a meeting at Gandhiji High School.
Jain Samaj Guru Muniraj Shri Chandra Yash said ahimsa was followed before the birth of Bhagavan Mahaveer and the same culture and tradition of ahimsa was being followed for the last 2, 617 years. He said preaching of ahimsa for the present generation was very important. He said that fighting among each other lead to destruction which is not good for anyone.
He said everyone should follow ‘Ahimsa Paramo Dharma’ to lead a peaceful life irrespective of caste, creed and religion. He said that people who follow ahimsa would also follow the way ‘Live and Let Live’. Ahimsa rally organisers Manoj Kothari, Praveen Jain, Sanjay Jain, Dinesh Shyam Sukha, Piyush Desai and Praveen Ranka thanked everyone for participating in the rally.
