7.5 crore allocated for sports complex

Nellore: The Minister for Law and Justice, Youth and Sports Kollu Ravindra has said that the government would set up various sports academies at Mogallapalem village in Nellore district.
The Minister, along with Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, held a review meeting on district sports activities at AC Subba Reddy Sports Complex on Friday and said the government had allocated Rs.7.50 crore for the Sports Complex for skating, greenery and also for laying walking tracks in the stadium premises. He asked the authorities to prepare proposals for the works.
Speaking at the meeting, Ravindra said that works were started at Mogallapalem village in 150 acres with Rs.8 crore released by the Central government. Multi-Sports Complexes would be constructed at Mogallapalem. Measures would be taken to construct buildings with latest equipment at the sports village.
The Sports authorities are preparing a Detailed Project Report to construct gymnasiums across the district with Rs.14 crore, he said. The Minister explained that they would provide sports equipment to all government schools and a Sports Development Centre would be set up in Magunta-lay out area at a cost of Rs.3 crore. He informed that they would arrange Sports Development Centres in all 10 constituencies with Rs.2 crore each.
The Municipal Administration Minister Narayana stressed on the need for development of AC Subba Reddy Sports Complex. Narayana also said that they had explained about measures being taken in the district for the development of sports placing proposals before of the Sports Minister.
Municipal Minister thanked the Sports Minister Ravindra for allocating funds for development of sports in the district. NUDA Chairman K Srinivasulu Reddy, Collector R Mutyala Raju, Mayor Sk Abdul Aziz, Commissioner S Alim Basha, DSDO Ramanaiah, former legislator M Sridhara Krishna Reddy and others were present.
