AP Govt will complete Polavaram, Amaravati, vows Narayana

​Nellore: Municipal administration minister P Narayana said that the state government will not stop construction works of Amaravati capital and Polavaram project even if the Centre creates hurdles for development of Andhra Pradesh.

After inspecting the Penna barrage works and participating in a series of programmes here on Friday, the minister while interacting with media persons categorically stated “Even though the Central Committee had given a positive report on utilisation of funds, the Centre is finding fault at the state. The state requires Rs 1.09 lakh crore for the construction of Amaravati in 217 square kilometers, but they gave us only Rs 1,500 crore asking many queries. Seems they are finding fault with the report too.”

Stating that Rs 5 lakh crore was spent for overall development of united AP, the minister said for constructing new capital Amaravati, it has been a cumbersome situation for the Andhra Pradesh with the attitude of the Centre for allocating funds. 

He said they had planned for works with Rs 48,000 crore and tenders were invited for Rs 22,000 crore. Still, he said, they were committed to continue works of Amaravati and Polavaram projects.

The minister taking pot shots at Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan and YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said they were joining hands with the ruling BJP for their personal agenda. The nexus between the three parties had exposed when they failed to attend all-party meet on the SCS, he said and slammed the BJP for supporting the Opposition and other parties to get mileage on the issue.

“The YSRCP MPs appreciated the budget in the House even though there were no major allocations to the state. They had started fight not for the SCS but for only bailing out from the cases booked against Vijayasai Reddy and Jaganmohan Reddy. As a responsible Opposition, they must fight for the state,” Narayana said. 

He said they were expressing their resentment over attitude of the Centre by wearing black badges. Even though Jana Sena chief thundered on attitude of the Centre and assured that he would get support from MPs of various parties across the country in favour of the state on according Special Category Status(Status (SCS), the minister said Pawan Kalyan had totally forgotten his promises and termed SCS as ‘rotted sweet’ (Pachipoyina Laddu).

Narayana said Pawan Kalyan has no leadership qualities and was making baseless allegations against IT minister Nara Lokesh. He said the Chief Minister is likely to visit Delhi on April 2 or 3 for expressing his resentment over the attitude of the Centre.
