E-way bill system comes into force from April 1
Vijayawada: All set for the implementation of E-waybill system from April 1 in Andhra Pradesh and other States in the country. The E-way bill is for movement of goods which can be generated on the e-Way Bill Portal, maintained by the Union government.
- GST Portal ready to give bill number to customers With the system, traders cannot use one bill multiple times
- It reduces corruption and enhances income to government, says Shaik Khadar Rehman, Additional Director of GST
As part of the nation-wide implementation of uniform Goods and Services Tax (GST), the e-way bill system is also introduced by the Central government. The main advantage with the E-way bill is that the traders cannot cheat the government by using the bill multiple times for transportation of goods.
When an E-way bill is generated, a unique E-way bill number (EBN) is allotted and is available to the supplier, recipient and the transporter, said Shaik Khadar Rehman, Additional Director of GST.
Speaking to The Hans India, he said E-way bill must be generated when there is transportation of goods worth more than Rs.50,000 in value, to or from a registered person."The GST portal can generate 75,000 e-way bills across the country," he added.
In the traditional manual mode, the traders used to recycle the waybills multiple times for transportation of goods. Now, this is not possible with the creation of bill online all over the country. The E-way bill can be used as authentic document for transportation of goods and there is no need of entry pass for the traders to transport goods from one state to other state.
N Bose a textile trader, Vijayawada, said now the traders cannot cheat the government by using the same way bill for transportation of goods multiple times. He felt the E-way bill system will reduce the corruption and enhance the revenue to the government.
The officials can verify the goods transported in the vehicles easily with the generation of the bills online. Alternatively, E-way bills can also be generated or cancelled through SMS, Android App and by the site-to-site integration, said Khadar Rehaman. Referring to the preparation of e-Way bills for the transportation of goods within the state, the software will be ready in the next three months.
He said the Central government has created www.ewaybillgst.gov.in portal for the convenience of customers, who seeks E-way bill. He said the customers can get further information from help desk 0120-4888999. Mail facility is available with https://selfservice.gstsystem.in.
