Mobile paddy purchasing centres to come up in East Godavari

Rajamahendravaram: The state government will introduce Mobile Paddy Purchasing Centres (MPPCs) in East Godavari district from this rabi season for the benefit of farming community. Here after the farmers need not rush here and there to sell their paddy produce.

According to civil supplies department quality control manager M Dattatreyulu, MPPCs will go to paddy fields and purchase the produce directly from farmers.

After receiving a phone call from the respective farmer, he said the MPPCs will go to fields and test the quantity of moisture content in the produce before purchasing it from the farmers and later the paddy produce will be transported to rice mills at free of cost.

He said the government took the decision to give minimum support price (MSP) to farmers to avoid problems as they are facing in selling their paddy yield. It was assessed that a large quantity of paddy produce comes from Amalapuram revenue division.

Dattatreyulu advised the farmers to maintain moisture content in paddy crop below 17 per cent to get good price to their produce.  

The rate of common paddy per quintal is Rs 1,550 and the rate of grade A quality paddy per quintal is Rs 1,590. As many as 92 MPPCs are likely to come up in Amalapuram revenue division. He said 20 per cent of paddy crop is likely to come up in April first week and 100 per cent crop will come up by April-end and MPPCs will start functioning from the first week of April.
