Strength in civic schools up by 15 pc: Minister
Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister PNarayanahas saidthat admissions in some municipal schools have been increased by 15 per cent in the state after they had introduced Foundation Course, improved amenities such as benches, drinking water and separate toilets for boys and girls.

The minister made a surprise visit to municipal schools in the city along with the City Mayor SkAbdul Aziz. They visited municipal schools at Kothamitta, B V Nagar, Kapadipalem areas on Saturday. Narayana interacted with the students of municipal schools and enquired about their academic activity and amenities being provided to them.
Minister observed the mid-day meals programme at KapadipalemMunicipal School and interacted with the students at KNR Municipal School in BV Nagar. Speaking to the media persons, Minister said that they would supply eggs to the students as part of mid-day meal after discussing with the implementing agencies.
He said that they identify 3 centres to boil eggs and distribute them to 70 municipal schools in the city. Measures would be taken to provide quality education in all municipal schools. He informed that they would construct additional buildings and also arrange computer labs in all civic schools across the state utilising funds under Corporate Social Responsibility.
Narayana said that they would develop municipal schools and provide quality education on par with the Corporate Institutions. He instructed the teachers to provide quality education to the wards. Later, Minister participated in Hanuman Jayanthi celebrations at Santhapeta Anjaneya Swamy Temple and in Rathotsavam.
He said that temple was constructed around 110 years ago. Minister thanked the Ubayakarthalu for performing the celebrations of Hanuman Jayanthi on a grand note. GGH Development Committee Chairman ChNarasimha Rao, former legislator MSridhar Krishna Reddy and others were present.
