Wild tuskers sent back to reserve forest

-    Trained elephants brought from Chittoor used for ‘Operation Gaja’ 

Srikakulam: A herd of eight wild elephants was sent back to Kadagandi reserve forest area with the help of trained elephants which were brought from Chittoor forest area. Wild elephants entered into plain areas in Amudalavalasa four days ago. 

After visiting the spot, chief conservator of forests, Rahul Pandey, discussed the issue with principal chief conservator of forests and brought two trained elephants, Ganesh and Jayanth, from Chittoor district. On Friday evening,  ‘Operation Gaja’ started with the help of trained elephants. The herd of wild elephants followed the trained elephants and entered into reserve forest area by Friday night. 

“Actually, we requested seven days to send wild elephants into reserve forest area,” district forest officer (territorial) and wild life in-charge, Chalumuri Shanthi Swaroop told The Hans India.
