Cheating baba and his aide held

Nellore: Rural sub-division police cracked Sudhakar Baba’s case, who swallowed crores of rupees in the guise of ashram activity. Police held Sudhakar baba and his follower Naga Vasavi who deceived devotees collecting huge amount from them assuring that they would pay additional amount for filling books. 

They had seized a laptop from the accused Vasavi.  Disclosing the case details to media at Rural Police Station, Rural DSP Raghava Rao said that Sudhakar and some of his followers started a scheme printing Namavali books (Hymns of God) collecting Rs 1,000 from the devotees assuring that they would pay Rs 1,400 after filling the book in a stipulated time.

Sudhakar and his followers collected around Rs 11 crore as devotees had purchased Rs 1,11,000 booklets from the ashram, said the DSP. “Sudhakar and his ashram members had repaid only Rs 8.90 crore to the devotees as part of the scheme and have still to pay Rs 2.20 crore. Prime accused in the case was M Venkata Naga Vasavi, said the rural DSP.
