Seven smugglers held, 90 kg ganja seized

Vijayawada: The city police nabbed seven persons and seized 90 kg of ganja in two different cases on Sunday night. Among the
accused 6 belongs to Visakhapatnam district and one from Tamil Nadu. The accused were smuggling ganja from Agency areas of
Visakhapatnam district to Tamil Nadu. 

Producing the ganja smugglers before media at Suryaraopet police station on Monday, DCP I Gajarao Bhupal said that the Krishna
Lanka police have arrested the four persons, Korra Appala Swamy, Vantala Kamal Hassan of Chintapalli mandal, Visakhapatnam
district, Nadella Tarun of G K Veedhi mandal, Visakhapatnam district and Subbu Prabhakaran of Madhurai, Tamil Nadu when they were
smuggling 40 kgs ganja in a car from Visakhapatnam Agency area to Tamil Nadu.

In another case, Ungutur police arrested three persons in Unguturu mandal and seized 50 kgs of ganja from their possession. The
arrested gang members are Pangi Sattibabu and Pangi Ramesh of Chintapalli mandal and Kannuri Venkata Ramana of Goligonda
mandal of Visakhapatnam district.

Gajarao Bhupal said the police under the commissionarate limits keeping a strict vigil along the National Highways to check the ganja
smuggling. He further said a team of police officials also went to Visakhapatnam district to investigate the ganja cultivation areas in
the Agency areas and those involved in the smuggling.
