108 service staff demand salary hike

Vijayawada: LC Y Srinivasula Reddy demanded that the government immediately solve the problems of the outsourcing employees of 108 service. Addressing the 24-hour protest here on Thursday, Srinivasula Reddy assured the employees that he would discuss in the council meeting about their problems.

YSRCP city president Vellampalli Srinivas visited the area where 108 emergency service employees were protesting demanding solution to their problems and expressed his solidarity with them.

The 108 contract employees union president, B Kiran Kumar, said 2,000 employees were working across the state. He said that they organised a 24-hour indefinite protest demanding hike in their salaries. He said that the government was paying Rs 10,000 for the pilot and Rs 12,000 for the emergency medical technician which was very less. 

He demanded that the government increase their salaries by 50 per cent and minimise the working time from 10 to 8 hours according to the Labour Act.The contract employees union secretary, KVV Narasimha Rao, said that salaries were pending from earlier contractor GVK EMRI. He demanded that the government release the pending salaries.

APCC coordinator Dr Radha Krishna, AP Government Contract and Outsourcing Employees Union chairman AV NageswaraRao,  YSRCP city president Vellampalli Srinivasu extended solidarity with the protesting 108 employees.
