Campaign on child rights protection launched
Visakhapatnam: Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights G Hymavathi and Superintendent of Police of Visakhapatnam Rural Rahul Dev Sharma launched a campaign on child rights protection and anti- trafficking measures.
Nature, a civil society organisation, made wall posters and information education and communication (IEC) supplied the material.
As many as 20 different themes of wall posters and IEC material was released by Hymavathi and Rahul Dev Sharma. While releasing the wall poster, Rahul Dev Sarma said that through the police department in association with various other departments and local NGOs are mapping the vulnerable areas and promoting to organise Child Rights and Protection awareness programmes to strengthen the systems and to take immediate actions.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights said that with the convergence efforts between various government departments, they can stop the violence against children. In coastal Andhra region, in collaboration with local action oriented organisations NATURE, Child Line 1098, Civil Society Organisations, JJ Systems, education, health, women and child welfare department, police are organising awareness campaigns in different themes, she added.
Additional SP G Srikanth, Special Juvenile Police Unit officials, assistant commissioner of education Danaiah, women and child welfare officer Usharani, Nature-Founder director SB Balaraju, secretary Balavikas Foundation N Prakasa Rao and several other NGO representatives were present.
