New equipment at KGH inaugurated
Visakhapatnam: Superintendent of King George Hospital (KGH) G Arjuna and Principal of Andhra Medical College (AMC) PV Sudhakar jointly inaugurated the upgraded version of Spyglass DS Cholangioscopy System (Latest technical Endoscopic system to visualise the bile ducts) and newly acquired two colonoscopy systems in the department of gastroenterology on Saturday.
The Spyglass DS Cholangioscopy equipment will help in accurate diagnosis of liver diseases which include bile duct diseases like stones, cancer and other disorders. This will enable us to give targeted therapy like blasting of stones that are formed in liver and bile duct through laser, to implant stents and cancer drugs directly and also to do direct radio frequency ablation of bile duct cancers. This equipment was bought at Rs.30 lakh.
The two new colonoscopy systems (Olympus make) worth Rs 30 lakh were supplied by APMSIDC sanctioned by Director of Medical Education. These instruments are immense use for the routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the patients who are suffering from large intestine diseases like cancer, diarrhoea, blood in stools and abdominal lumps.
