Vehicle owners fined `48.24 lakh for emitting pollution
Guntur:Road Transport Authority officials booked cases against the owners using the old vehicles causing more air pollution.
According to RTA officials, they booked as many as 4,824 cases in the district during previous financial year and collected a penalty of Rs 48.24 lakh. Those who possessed pollution check certificates should only drive the vehicle. The vehicle has to emit the pollution within the limits.
The officials booked cases for release of more smoke causing more pollution. They conducted checks and verified the pollution verification certificates.Deputy Transport Commissioner DC Rajaratnam advised the vehicle owners to keep the vehicle in condition and keep the pollution verification certificate with the vehicle rider.
