World Health Day observed
Visakhapatnam: The World Health Day was observed by various departments here on Saturday. The Eastern Naval Command organised a health walk-cum-nature trek, Praja Arogya Vedika and Praja Arogya Parirakshana Committee took out rallies and walk to mark the occasion. A large number medical and nursing students took part in the health walks. The World Health Day is a global health awareness day observed every year on April 7.
Health walk-cum-nature trek was organised at the ENC with an aim of promoting physical fitness and well-being of naval fraternity and their families. The health walk was flagged off by Chief of Eastern Naval Command Vice-Admiral Karambir Singh, wherein hundreds of navy personnel, including officers, sailors and their families took part.
The walk commenced from the base of the Dolphin Hills gate and proceeded along the trek route via Dolphin Light House to Yerada Beach covering a total distance of 7.5 km. All the participants enjoyed the trek through the picturesque and serene surroundings of Dolphin Hill Bay. The walk culminated in a beach clean-up drive wherein all participants cleared the beach of all litter and plastic waste.
At an another programme, Praja Arogya Vedika, an NGO, working for good health, conducted a health walk. Later, the members of the NGO met the Collector and urged him to take up health measures for the benefit of the common man. The PAV urged the Collector to allot special budget to KGH for developing infrastructure in the hospital.
The PAV also urged the Collector for recruitment of additional nursing staff and technical staff to the super specialty block in the KGH. The organisation brought to the notice of the Collector about various needs of KGH. Convener of PAV T Kameswara Rao explained about the emergency needs of KGH on which thousands of people are depending.
