SC/ST Aikya Vedika meet in Vij on April 16

 Rajamahendravaram: Former MP GV Harsha Kumar has announced that a massive convention 'SC/ST Aikya Vedika' will be held in Vijayawada on April 16 with all SC/ST associations andmembers and elected representatives of all parties.

Speaking to reporters at his office here on Saturday, he said the programme was aimed to register their strong protest against the judgement delivered by the SupremeCourt relating to SC/ST Atrocities Act and also to raise their voice against the step-motherly attitude of the court towards SC/STs. As many as 11persons died in the agitation across the country in this regard.

Reiterating that the Act was shielding SC/STs from many years and they are living with a confidene, the former MP said the recent verdict of apex court had dashed their hopes and added though the Act was inforce, attacks on SC/STs became common and the governments were also not implementing the Act in letter and spirit.

Stating that the collegium system was not correct and the respective authorities were selecting their kith and kin as judges in the apex court, Harsha Kumar said and added there was not even a single judge belongs to SC/STs in the Supreme Court, which shows the step-motherly attitude of judiciary to the communities.  He called upon SC/STs to raise their voice against injustice meted out to them and appealed to all parties and associations to participate in the meeting.
